These shirts come with a story. Here it is...
Ever heard of Bo Randall of Randall Knives? If you’re into knives you should. He’s pretty much a legend and the grandfather of modern custom knives. Go read his story if you don’t know it because it’s fascinating. Our stories overlap in some pretty crazy ways. He’s been an inspiration for me. I wanted to combine my love of knives with my history in art and design. My inspiration was to combine ancient and modern ways of making knives and therefore make knives that look both old and yet futuristic.
One day my wife and I were driving and thinking about what would be a good home for our next phase of life. We have three little kids, a knife company, and love hosting people. We thought something like that lake house we used to go to in college. It’s a 2.5 acre, 2 story log cabin home with a separate very large workshop all on a spring fed lake. Well the next day “that lake house we used to go to in college” went up for sale. We bought it. We began to learn the fascinating history of the lake. Back in the prohibition days there used to be a weekly float plane that would land and unload the illegal whiskey into “the lodge” which all the locals knew was a speakeasy. Friday nights on the lake were wild. I also learned that there used to be a fishing camp for kids back in the 40’s and 50‘s. I went to a meeting to meet my lake neighbors and that’s where it really gets crazy. They handed me a book of the history of the lake. That fishing camp was right where my house sits and it was owned by none other than Bo Randall. I have a knife shop on the old fishing camp of Bo Randall. My mind was blown. If it didn’t already feel “meant to be” now it was official. Super grateful and humbled that I get to do something I love for a living. Super grateful for this house. Super grateful that it’s all rooted in history.
